Modern dance classes at Royal Amelia Dance Academy place an emphasis on a students creativity, expression and technique. Furthermore students will develop their artistic process through creative movement. Modern dance is a living, growing, and ever changing art form, which continues to evolve and reflect the time in which we live.
The students will work independently and as a group to create work.They will understand and employ the use of space, time and quality of movement. Students learn a foundation in the concepts of fall and recovery, lateral, spiral, contraction, and shift of weight.
The technique taught at Royal Amelia Dance Academy is based in the teachings of Martha Graham, Lester Horton, Merce Cunningham, and Paul Taylor, who were the pioneers of Modern Dance.
(Each child is individually placed in a particular class level based on previous experience and training.)
